We thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite home remodel and design sites with you. Everyone has that project list waiting and maybe some of these sites will help motivate you to start one or inspire you with a new one! In no particular order here are our top 10!
1. Kaleidoscope Living
This amazingly fun site is filled with design ideas and DIY tutorials. Former attorney turned blogger Tasha, shares her love of interiors with blogs, videos, shopping recommendations and more. Her new design guide, “Designer in a Binder” helps guide you in your design process and has been featured on HGTV, Rachael, Better Homes & Gardens and many more. I hope you find her site fun and motivating!
2. Old Town Home
Old Town Home follows husband and wife flippers Alex and Wendy Santantonio through their experiences flipping old homes. If you love watching old homes get restored to their original beauty, this one’s for you! You can follow them through the restoration of an 1880’s Victorian in Virginia through blogs and photos. You can start by viewing photos from their original home inspection (yes…even professionals get home inspections!). There is also a great section on projects and tutorials where they show you how to do things like correct pet damage to hardwood stairs and install recessed lighting.
3. Decor Hacks
What can I say? Everybody loves a good hack! Find a wide range of hacks ranging from how to hide cords in your home to DIY furniture projects. If you are a person who needs video, this may not be the blog for you. If you appreciate a well written blog with a table of contents on each article and some great DIY hacks, you must try it.
4. Remodelicious
A blog by a self described momtrepreneur who loves to create! She shares transformations of individual pieces like a farmhouse coffee table to large scale projects like a complete kitchen makeover. She also has a money saving section for you to do it yourselfers who are budget conscious. Be sure to check out her weekly special Transformation Tuesdays.
5. This Old House
It’s an oldie but a goodie. This Old House is America’s original home improvement show that began on PBS in 1979! They have stayed up to date with their show and their awesome site. You can watch episodes, find other similar series, look at projects and idea houses or get access to their podcast, magazine, newsletter and other great resources. Watch Season 43 (yep 43) episode 18: Pruning 101.
6. One Project Closer
I love this no frills site! It has project guides easily sorted by room or type of project. The guy (because I don’t know his name) includes a great review of tools sorted by brand name. There is a great coupon section that gives recent coupons from Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Target and AJ Madison. Finally, he includes his wife by linking to her page One Project Closer – The Better Half. Her page has great DIY, hand lettering, recipes and more. Smart and fun!

Sarah, the creator of Ugly Duckling House says her site is “DIY for the imperfect mess-makers and perpetual project starters — get inspiration and practical tips to a home you’ll love!” I agree. You’ll find fun projects, tools and house tours and won’t feel guilty if you make a mess.
8. Family Handyman
This site has great how-to videos on just about everything home maintenance related. I love the New Homeowner section so much, I’m going to link directly to that section. It includes:
